YOUR MEMORIES

Even with what we have created on this site so far there is a wealth of information just waiting to be added. That means that the site will continue to expand over the coming months, maybe years, maybe...who knows?

What we do know is that like any collection of memories Remenisce This is only as good as the sum of its parts and those parts can come from any number of places.

Therefore, if you would like to share your memories of the 1950s, 1960s and/or 1970s, we'd love to hear from you. You may have a small anecdote, a full-blown article, an interesting picture or a memory of a favourite event or person.

So, if you are interested in sharing your memories or opinions with the rest of the world just drop us a line at reminisce-this@hotmail.co.uk

NEW EXHIBITION AT THE SCIENCE MUSEUM

Your memories could now form a part of a new exhibition at the Science Museum in London.

The Exhibition Team are currently putting together an exciting exhibition which will open at the Museum in the spring of 2008. It will look at national and domestic technology in Britain in the period 1946-1970 and will display many of the wonderful objects held in the national collections.

On the domestic side, the exhibition will be looking specifically at post war austerity and the introduction of consumer technology into the domestic home. This section of the exhibition will therefore cover such things as, ‘my first TV’, the Britain Can Make It exhibition (1946) & the Festival of Britain (1951), the post-war use of utility furniture, prefabs and the rise of DIY.

As part of the display the team will be including personal memories of people who experienced life in Britain in the post-war era, for example, short sound bites that summarise people's experiences of encountering domestic technology in the home for the first time in the 1950s and 60s.
More news about this exciting exhibition will be published on this website in the near future.
